Transforming Miami’s Wastewater: A $2 Billion, 15-Year Journey<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

On April 2014, Miami-Dade County entered into a federally mandated<\/a> Consent Decree with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, committed to making improvements to the wastewater collection and treatment system estimated at $1.6 billion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This large and complex program to make improvements to the wastewater collection and treatment system spans over 15 years to complete the planning, design and construction of over 150 projects valuing approximately $2B.<\/p><\/div>\n\n\n\n

The large complex program includes the rehabilitation, renovation, replacement, sea level rise (SLR) and storm surge betterments, technology upgrades, expansion, and new construction to all of the County\u2019s wastewater treatment plants, over 50-pump stations, and 100+ miles of sanitary sewer force mains up to 72-inches to prevent sanitary sewer overflows (SSOs).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
